What is Andropause?
Andropause (male menopause) refers to the gradual decrease in testosterone levels in men beginning at about age 35. Natural testosterone is necessary for many functions in the body, including a healthy heart, proper metabolism, desire for activity, stamina, energy and mental quickness.
A decrease in testosterone may cause a variety of symptoms including reduced:
- libido
- sexual function and/or sensitivity
- mental quickness and sharpness
- energy, strength and endurance
- desire for activity and exercise
- muscle mass
It can also cause:
- increased body fat
- mild to moderate depression and irritability
- loss of eagerness and enthusiasm for daily life
